Funding has been acquired to help set up a support group for young men aged 18 - 35years for an initial 10 week period. This is open to young men from all areas and will take place in

The opening session is on Thursday 4th September 2025 from 7.30pm - 9.30pm and every Thursday evening afterwards.

Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided and a donation of £1 per person would be appreciated. There is no registration fee, no membership and no formal details recorded.

The funding has been provided by Binley Woods Community Cafe, who provide social situations for members of the community to support friendship and growth for positive mental health.

Their lead volunteer, Rebecca says

"I'm very aware that young men are struggling in society with loneliness and isolation at this time and that suicide among young men is higher than ever.It's really important that young men have places they can go to where they can talk about problems they are facing and see if other men have similarities, work out how they can solve things, make new friends, share new interests and find a new social life through activities. My hope is that Binley Woods Men's Academy will be a safe place for guys to turn up to when they want to if they feel in need of company, and that it will be run by young men for young men who design their own ideas for a positive support network. After 10 weeks they will come up with their own vision and name for the group to carry it on themselves. It would be great if men within the18-35 year age group would come forward as mentors to help."
