Defibrillators

We have now had two Defibrillators installed in the village since 2015, one outside the village hall and the other by the chemist in Woodlands Rd. The units are registered with the ambulance service, and are regularly checked and maintained by the Parish Council with batteries and pads changed as and when necessary.

Fortunately, their use has not been required during this 10 year period, and, hopefully, will not in the coming years. However, there have been two occasions recently where the cabinets have been forced open to gain access to the units. These were not acts of vandalism, but were caused by people who thought the units were necessary in an emergency situation. As a result, the units were out of commission for some time, whilst replacement locks where sought and installed, and the cabinets repaired.

This is just a reminder that in the event of any medical emergency, one should dial 999 and if a defibrillator is thought necessary, the operator or paramedic will give you a 6 digit code to enter into the cabinet keypad which will open the door and allow the defibrillator to be accessed.
