As you probably know, we have two defibrillators installed in the village. The first was installed in February 2015 outside the village hall and the second in October 2015 outside the chemist’s in Woodlands Rd. Fortunately, despite the odd scare over that time, neither unit has been used and they remain totally operational.
When considering the expansion of the village off Boscage Rd and the proximity of housing in that general area, the Parish Council have purchased another unit to be installed at the Eastern end of the village. With the kind support of One Stop Ltd and in the very near future, the cabinet that houses the defibrillator unit will be installed on an external wall at their shop on the Rugby Road.
Since installation of the original units, we have held a number of CPR training sessions which were well attended and found to be of value to the participants. These sessions lasted for about two hours and included demonstrations of CPR methods and use of a defibrillator.
I am now trying to gauge the interest in setting up a similar event(s) and request that you email me back if you are interested. I cannot give you any dates or venues at the moment, because that depends upon the level of interest and then the availability of the First Responders who ran the previous courses.
